Wildlife Violator Compact Agreement

These intergovernmental cooperative efforts strengthen the capacity of the Fish and Wildlife Division to protect and manage the State`s wildlife resources. Except as expressly provided in this Covenant, nothing in this Covenant shall be construed as affecting the right of a participating State to apply any of its laws with respect to licensing privileges to any person or circumstance, or to invalidate or prevent any agreement or other cooperation agreement between a participating state and a non-participating state with respect to the application of the wildlife law. 1. The division may suspend the hunting, fishing or fishing privileges of a resident of that State if the licensing authority of an issuing State informs that the resident has not complied with the conditions of a quotation issued for an offence controlled by a wild animal. The suspension will remain in effect until the department receives satisfactory evidence of compliance from the issuing state. 1. The present Covenant shall take effect when it is adopted in an essentially similar form by two or more States. The Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact also establishes a process where violations of wildlife legislation committed by a non-resident of a member state are treated as if the person were a resident, meaning they can be served a ticket instead of being arrested, reserved and bound. This process is convenient for hunters, fishermen and trappers in the Member States and increases the efficiency of game wardens by freeing up more time for enforcement obligations than for dealing with offences. The Pact establishes reciprocity between Member States for the purpose of suspending hunting, fishing and fishing licences.
